I can set my own schedule and break that schedule without being punished. I don't set anything in stone because life does sometimes get in the way of writing. And that's okay because, through living, I am able to be inspired. I learn new things and that can change my writing.
I am able to eavesdrop without feeling guilty lol. Of course, I don't do it to be mean and I don't pay attention to the actual conversation. I watch how the people carry themselves, the tone of their voices, how they react to each other, etc. The actual conversation goes in one ear and out the other. It is one way to learn in real-time.
Being an Indie Writer gives me the freedom to write anything I want and love. I don't have a publisher who tells me it's good or bad. I allow the readers to do that. They are an important factor in writing. Without them, I wouldn't have a job.
I can sit down and lose myself in a story, becoming the character and walking in his/her shoes. No one gets to tell me I can't write from a man's POV or a woman's POV. The choice is mine and mine alone.
Escaping is part of the fun!
Being the first person to see a story unfold.
Hearing what others think of something I created. Even if they didn't like it. But when they do, it's like magic!
The freedom to express myself without breaking any laws. If I'm mad at someone, I can just throw them at the wolves and write a murder scene. No jail time lol.
I can write myself into the story without actually being in the story. I can become the cop who catches the killer or be the fireman who puts out the fire. I can save the world five times over, fly without wings, and go beyond my wildest dreams. I can give my personality to three different characters and see how they react to each other. I can be the brave soul who fights the dragon. The choices are endless.
I can better myself.
I've actually given myself advice without even realizing it lol.
Alone time!
