It's that time of year again--one holiday after another. Halloween came and went. Loved the costumes! Now comes Thanksgiving, then Christmas, and the New Year! This is the time of year when I'm busy between shopping for gifts and planning for the following year. I have to admit, I've been doing the latter a lot sooner this year. I think I was doing that starting in the spring lol. I can't help it, this is one area of my writing where I can do that. Of course, the characters in my head still jump in and have a thing or two to say.
I don't normally decorate for Halloween. A friend of mine bought me a Pumpkin cup and a small statue that says "a haunted house is a happy home" and I liked both, so I did display those. I figured one of the kids would grab the cup. The broom statue will make its home in my office for decoration since I will be writing horror and do write fantasy. To me, it doesn't matter that it's a Halloween decoration lol.
Work has slowed down quite a bit over the months so money is tight now. I started early getting gifts for the kids and grandchildren once that started happening. We were still able to get our bills paid, which is a good thing lol. That's what happens when you work for a hotel. If someone doesn't check out, you can't clean the room. Those who are staying are responsible for keeping their own rooms clean so I don't touch those (unless someone asks for it and that pay comes from their pocket by choice). The hotel stopped cleaning "stay-overs" long before we started working there due to theft complaints. No complaints since.
A couple years ago, I stopped making New Year resolutions. I figured making goals was simpler. So far, I've met every one of them and will continue this new goal for my new year. I've already been sharing what my goals are for next year but I will make it official once the year begins.
After that, we'll have a break for the holidays (next two are Valentine's Day and St Patrick's Day). No plans for them yet lol. I don't normally plan this far ahead unless it is Christmas. Of course, those plans can change so nothing is ever set in concrete.
Do you celebrate any holiday? Are you different in your celebrations? Comment below and tell me what you do for them. Thank you!!
