I never expected this to be as much fun as it was. I expected, mystery and suspense but this book was actually very entertaining! The humor added into this murder mystery reminded me a little of the Hardy Boys. You never know what to expect.
The narrator has a great voice and I enjoyed his performance.
This is book 2 and can be read as a standalone!

Excerpt Chapter 4

Fire surrounded him. There was nowhere to escape. He stood over the body he and his brother planted in the empty building. As the fire charged at him, he made a leap of faith over the flames. The heat caught him and pulled him down. There was so much smoke that he coughed, fighting it. He called out to his brother, but he couldn’t find him. Where was he? Had he left him there alone to die? This wasn’t part of the plan. Where did Thomas go? He yelled out to him again. The flames were burning. He screamed in agony and cried for help. No one came. Then all went dark.

Mark shot upwards, perspiring more than usual. Beads of sweat covered his brow, dripping from his eyebrows. His heart raced, his breathing was fast, and he couldn’t remember where he was. He looked around the darkened room. Something moved by the window—a shadow. “Thom--as?” His voice trembled. It felt so real; like he had been in the fire instead of Thomas.

     No answer.

Mark straightened his back as the memories of the nightmare faded. “Come on, Thomas. The joke has gone far enough. Is that you?” No answer.

Mark pushed himself out of the bed and approached the large window. The figure disappeared like a cloud of smoke. He turned around, thinking maybe the man snuck past him in the darkness. He was in his room. He saw his bed, his dresser with all the clutter spread out on top of it, clothes scattered across the floor, but no person. “Anyone there?” No answer.

Mark rushed to the other side of the room and felt for the light switch and fumbled to turn on the light. When the light turned on, it was too bright for his eyes and squinted until they adjusted. He looked around the room. He was the only person in the bedroom. He slid down the wall, pulled his knees into his chest, and wept.
